My journey in Ireland started in 2013 with the intention of studying English. Fortunately, Ireland is a great place and I quickly fell in love with the country and all the friendly people living here. I decided then to stay longer.
That was when I decided to take a degree course at Dorset College Dublin, so that I could have a better future developing my skills and have a better chance of competing in the Irish job market. Dorset showed me that I could really transform the passion I had for computers into something useful and that could change my life. I became much more confident about my skills, learned to work better in a team and even communicate better.
As an IT professional, I used many of the things I learned from my lectures in past jobs or in personal projects, for example; SQL to deal with databases, programming languages like JavaScript to run automated tests, C# to work in tasks using Unity Engine, Java to make personal Apps for Android devices, PHP – HTML – CSS to work on web development and much more. But it’s not just the development process that I learned, the planning process is as important as the development, and a few examples I can mention I had the opportunity to see was UML Diagrams, Functional Specifications, Flowcharts and Storyboards.
