On International Women’s Day, Dorset College organised a coffee & tea morning in support of Women’s Aid. Women’s Aid is a free, leading national organisation that has been working in Ireland to stop domestic violence against women & children since 1974. Their ultimate goal is to end domestic violence, offer support and work for justice & social change. The Women's Aid National Freephone Helpline 1800 341 900 operates 24 hours a day and provides support/information to callers experiencing abuse from intimate partners.
Kate, our student experience lead, kindly organised the event to create a space for students to discuss areas of equality, diversity and inclusion. It felt appropriate to highlight the work of Women’s Aid and all they do for many women and families across the county on this particular day and continue to support them on a yearly basis. Making this a yearly event in the college, we would like to expand the event by possibly having workshops or speakers coming in.
